Women vs Men on social media sites (Facebook-Twitter)

Recently a survey was made on Social media habits of men and women by the Brtish Telecom where they were asked more than 1,999 people and finally they revealed that  more than half of the women use social media sites (53%) like Twitter and Facebookwhen compared with men only 35%.
The survey also pointed out how internet usage has been increased, womens are commanding on internet not only participating on social media sites by playing online games.

In this course the trend has been changed not only men gradually womens are maintaining blog/websites online which is influencing advertiser and quality of web content.
Do you think this applicable to all over the world that womens are more participating on social media than mens.
